Unlock a PDF you are allowed to open
Use this when you have permission to open a protected document but need a version that no longer asks the recipient for the password. For example, a colleague may have sent you a password-protected statement that you are authorized to pass along with a project file.
After you provide the correct password, the browser decrypts the document, renders every page as a JPEG image, and assembles those images into a new PDF. This makes the new file unprotected, but it is an image-based reconstruction rather than the original document structure.
Expect a changed document format
Because the output is rebuilt from page images, it can no longer preserve selectable text, live links, interactive form fields, or every aspect of the source quality. Keep the original protected file if you may need to search, copy text, follow links, fill fields, or retain its original fidelity.
The password and document stay within your browser while it decrypts pages and creates the replacement PDF. Nothing is sent away for this operation, so the file is processed only on the device and browser session you use.
Frequently asked questions
Can this unlock a PDF when I do not know the password?
No. The tool needs the correct password before it can decrypt the document; it does not bypass, guess, or crack PDF protection. If you do not have the password, ask the document owner or sender for it. You will not receive an unlocked file from an incorrect or missing password.
Will the unlocked PDF keep searchable text and form fields?
No. Each decrypted page becomes a JPEG before the new PDF is built. As a result, text selection, links, and form functionality may be lost, and some visual quality can change. Choose this tool when removal of the password matters more than keeping those document features.
